Insect treatment

You work too hard on your garden to see it killed by destructive pests like slugs, aphids and Japanese beetles. The first step in getting rid of these pests is to identify what you are battling. If you don’t know what you’re fighting, you don’t know the best weapons to use.

Treat for Insects That Kill:

  1. For most insect damage, it is best to cut away infested and damaged parts of the plant and place them in the trash so they can’t spread to other plants.
  2. For plants infested with aphids, spray with water to remove the aphids, then spray the entire plant (including both sides of the leaves) with a mild solution of water and regular dish soap. A Neem oil solution is another natural and effective pest control solution in the garden.
  3. Sprinkle a solid ring of diatomaceous earth around plants susceptible to slugs.
  4. Japanese beetles are best eradicated with specially designed traps that are easily installed and disposed of.
