About the S. CA & Inland Valleys Region

Southern California is defined by the Peninsular Ranges, a group of mountain ranges that stretch nearly 900 miles from southern California to the tip of Mexico’s Baja peninsula. Optimal year round growing conditions and moderate climates make this area excellent for gardening. Coastal fog is common, as are temperatures from 30°F in winter to 100°F in summer. Average rainfall is 15 inches and soils can go from rich loam to granite to clay.
