Did you know that you can extend the life of a peony bud by months?

If you cut herbaceous peonies while they are still in bud form, they’ll last for up to six weeks in the refrigerator. Simply wrap them in newspaper, place rubber bands on the ends, and store them on their sides. Alternatively, you can store them upright in a vase of water, protected by a flower sleeve, for up to six months if you continually change out the water.

Take them out of the refrigerator and they will open at room temperature.
