If you were to ask me what the one thing I couldn’t live without in the garden is, it would be compost. I have been using compost and making my own for as long as I’ve been gardening.
Compost is the ultimate multitasker in the garden; not only does it provide an abundance of nutrients, it also helps soil hold water, allows for air flow, controls erosion, lures soil-enriching earthworms, and creates a home for the bacteria that protect plants against disease.
