Introduction

Create a focal point for your garden with this enhanced terra cotta pot display. Follow our step-by-step instructions for an eye-catching container.

Step 1

Place the stake in the ground where the planter will sit. Attach a string that’s 21.5 inches long, pull the string tight and mark the circle. The circle will be about 43 inches in diameter.

Step 2

With your shovel, dig out the circle to a depth of about 2 inches. Rake to level the soil.

Step 3

Fill the circle with the leveling sand. Use the manual tamper to compact the sand, and use a level to ensure an even surface for the pavers.

Step 4

Arrange 26 Rumblestone mini pavers around the inside perimeter of the circle.

Step 5

The terra cotta pot goes right in the center. Fill in the area around the pot with the Vigoro bagged rocks.

Step 6

Fill the bottom of the pot with a couple inches of gravel for drainage, topping with an equal amount of pine bark or mulch. Fill the rest of the pot with potting mix, enough to completely cover the root balls of the plants.

Step 7

Mix granular plant food into the soil and then start planting. Accentuate the planter with a few smaller pots around the base.

Step 8

Give your new container display a healthy watering and enjoy a season full of blooms.
