Gifts For Mother’s Day

This Mother’s Day, show your special someone how much you love her with a hug and heartfelt thanks. Then treat her to something she can enjoy throughout the year—a gift for her garden. We’ve picked some of our favorites, below, to show her she’s appreciated and remembered.

Lounge About

Invite mom to take a well-deserved break in this micromesh Zero Gravity Reclining Patio Chaise Lounger. The sturdy, black steel frame uses bungee-cord suspension to allow her to fully recline or adjust a sitting position and lock it in place. The pillow is detachable, so she can use it to support her back or rest her head if she wants to catch a nap in a shady spot in the garden. The chair folds for easy storage when it’s time to call it a day. No assembly is required.

Everything’s rosy

Roses are perennial favorites for Mother’s Day. This year, give her a Knock Out rose bush and she’ll have flowers to cut for her vases every 5 to 6 weeks throughout the growing season. Knock Outs are exceptionally resistant to black spot and powdery mildew, so they seldom require spraying. They’re also heat and drought tolerant.

Look for Knock Out Roses in blushing pink to cherry red or creamy yellow. These easy-to-maintain bushes will leave mom lots of time for enjoying their beauty; just give them full sun, well-drained soil, and a regular feeding with rose fertilizer.

If your mom isn’t a rose fan, make a dish garden. She can enjoy it on a patio or porch, or separate the plants and move them into the garden when she’s ready.

Lend A Hand

What mom wouldn’t appreciate a helping hand? Attach a handwritten note to a new garden spade (great for making straight edges), toss in a few bags of potting soil, and offer to dig a new flower or vegetable bed. Or skip the digging and use a raised bed kit with pre-cut parts. Assembly is a snap; we’ll show you how to do it here. Add some pretty annuals, herbs or veggies, and she’s ready to grow.

 Water Music

Gardens aren’t just about what you see; they’re also about the sounds of nature. A fountain that bubbles and splashes makes a garden feel peaceful and helps attract butterflies and birds.

Choose from styles that range from classical to rustic; many fountains are made of lightweight resin so they’re easy to move around. Some are designed for use indoors or outdoors. You’ll also find models that include LED lights and remote controls.

Light Up The Night

Every mom is a working mom, but if yours goes into an office every day, chances uplighting-trees-300are she gets home about the time the sun sets. Help her enjoy her garden even in the evening. Consider solar path lights to illuminate a walkway. LED technology keeps the bulbs stay cool while providing safe, economical lighting.

Give A Gift Card

Can’t decide? Or does your mom seem to have everything? A gift card to Home Depot can be the solution you’re looking for. Attach it to a small stake, slip it into a pretty potted plant like the one shown here, and let the shopping begin!  HD_mothersday_giftcard_560
