Garden-Tool Container

Martha Stewart
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Garden tools in sand.A sand-filled trough will keep small garden tools from vanishing—and keep them in good working order.

You Will Need:

  • Galvanized container, tub, or bucket
  • Sand
  • Motor oil

How-To

  1. Fill a trough or other container with sand to 1 inch from top.
  2. Pour in about 1/4 cup of motor oil (sand should have a slightly moist texture); stir.
  3. Stick tools face-down in the sand. The sand will keep them clean and sharp, while the oil will keep them rust-free. When returning tools to trough, wipe them with a rag first.
