Cooler weather means that many of us spend more time indoors, but that doesn’t mean we can forget about the way our home looks from the curb.
Summer’s hanging baskets are a memory, Halloween has come and gone, and Christmas is just around the corner. As the leaves take on their vibrant hues and fall to the ground, don’t miss the opportunity to make your front porch, stoop, or walkway stand out. With just a few minutes and some creative inspiration you can create a beautiful, welcoming entrance from that blank canvas.
Begin by selecting pumpkins or gourds in sizes that are appropriate for your space. A large pumpkin might be out of place on a stoop that’s just a few feet wide, but a cluster of three would be right at home in a larger space. As a general rule, stick with odd numbers unless you are creating a symmetrical design. If you’re stuck, go with three pumpkins of sizes that range from large to small.
Next, choose container flowers like mums and pansies in colors that best complement the front of your home. Place the containers behind and around the pumpkins, treating your front entry much like a seasonal table centerpiece.
To complete the look, add flameless candles, a few fallen leaves, or even small bundles of dried cornstalks tied to the handrails.
Whatever you choose, make your autumn decor your own by adding personal touches that reflect your style and personality. Your entry will be the talk of the neighborhood in no time, so what are you waiting for? Let’s Do This!
